My Story

When I completed my 200 hour YTT, I was given the spiritual name Tulasi (Sanskrit: तुलसी). Tulasi means “incomparable one”. In India, tulsi is considered a holy plant and symbol of healing and protection. It is typically found in the center of a household and is used as medicine for the body, mind, and soul. Aviva change her last name to Tulasi as a reminder of the person she was striving to become.

Over a decade ago, I had chronic stress and my stomach was in constant pain, unable to digest most foods. My allergies and eczema wreaked havoc. I was using all available energy to just get through the day. I decided to sign up for yoga classes on a whim. I kept showing up and I was surprised to find my body healing itself in all of these incredible ways. I began to live fearlessly and stopped overly worrying about repeating the same mistakes of the past. Yoga has led me to a life of balance so now I am confident that I can embrace both the pleasant and painful as lessons for growth.

After experiencing these incredible changes in myself, I wanted to understand the science behind the healing power of yoga and help others have the same transformative experience.

In addition to teaching yoga, I run Fuel Up at Perry Harrison School, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity that provides supplemental food for elementary children.

I am here to bring Tulasi and all of its associated positivity into your life.

Why use Yoga for well being?

Yoga has strengthen me physically, mentally and spiritually. It can help you too.

What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga Therapy is the therapeutic application of Yoga. Together we create an individualized yoga practice that addresses your unique needs and where you are in your health journey. My process starts with an intake discussion to learn about your health, challenges, and goals. I will help you find simple tools to make your goals part of your lifestyle.

The main focus during my yoga therapy session is finding ways to activate our parasympathetic system so we can rest and reset which can reduce the negative impact of stress, anxiety, depression and trauma.
